The Ramil De Jesus-coached Lady Spikers, who begged off from their Shakey’s Super League stint earlier this month due to player injuries, will be facing Letran, Lyceum and Team Davao in the four-day tourney which is expected to pack the USEP Gym, Obrero in Davao City.

Canino has been ruled out of the Alas Pilipinas lineup for the upcoming SEA V-League in mid-August as she shifts her focus to La Salle during its offseason preparations.

With Julia Coronel, Thea Gagate, Leila Cruz and Maicah Larroza all making history as the top four picks in the inaugural PVL Rookie Draft last month, the rebuilding Lady Spikers are looking to fill the gap following the exodus of talents choosing to pursue the pro and establish an intact roster ahead of the UAAP season.

The Lady Spikers failed to defend their crown in the UAAP Season 86 after suffering a Final Four exit at the hands of University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses.

Apart from Canino, Shevana Laput, Amie Provido and libero Lyka De Leon have upheld their commitment to the Taft-based crew at the conclusion of the season and will be joined by new talents come the UAAP Season 87.

Last week, the Green Archers faced three PBA teams in Rain or Shine, Converge and Phoenix in their own four-day basketball tournament at the same venue.

Topex Robinson’s La Salle and Rain or Shine concluded the tournament that saw the Elasto Painters take a 136-116 victory to complete a 4-0 sweep of the competition.
