Fire Officer 2 (FO2) Rolin Paulan, chief arson investigator of the Bacolod City Fire Station, said that the victims were inside a van loaded with 12 LPG tanks – seven 11-kilogram and five 50-kilogram – when the explosion occurred around 2:35 p.m.
The victims did not sustain severe injuries as the vehicle’s seats served as barriers from the explosion, Paulan said.
The victims, an LPG retailer and his two helpers, sustained minor burns and were sent home after treatment.
Paulan said that fumes from an LPG tank that leaked could be a factor in the explosion.
An investigation is ongoing to establish the real cause of the blast.
The owner said they have a conveyance permit allowing them to transport LPG tanks.
Paulan said they required the owner to submit proof of his claim. “We’re trying to figure out other details,” he added.
Damage to property was P700,000 – the assessed value of the vehicle.
