Police Capt. Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for DCPO, said during the Davao and the Security Press Corps press conference on Wednesday, that the 51-year-old suspect, alias Jose, confided to investigators that he had shabu kept in his house at NHA Village in Barangay Ma-a.

Police recovered the shabu packed in a transparent plastic bag and tightly wrapped in packaging tape.

Tuazon said the contraband was turned over to the Davao City Field Unit-Davao for examination.

She said the shabu came from Manila and was transported by land to Cagayan de Oro City where it was picked up by the suspect before proceeding to this city.

Tuazon said that the suspect revealed that the drug was intended to be distributed in the Davao region. She added that there is no shabu laboratory in this city. Tuazon said the confiscated drugs came mostly from Manila.

The suspect and a 41-year-old companion, Ruby, were arrested at around 6:30 p.m. when a law enforcer noticed a big transparent sachet bulging from the right pocket of his pants. The suspects travelled from Cotabato City to Davao, Tuazon said.

Law enforcers asked the suspects to step out from their vehicle, a Toyota Vios, for body search.

They were frisked and police found out that the sachet in the possession of the male suspect was  suspected shabu.

Authorities seized another sachet of suspected shabu from the seat of his companion. Two firearms were also recovered from their possession.

Tuazon said complaints for violation of Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act have been filed against the suspects.
