2,500 job offers to unemployed Manila residents through 'Kalinga' program

The Manila-Public Employment Services Office (PESO) offered 2,500 jobs to unemployed residents on Wednesday, July 3. Many applicants were hired on-the-spot.

Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the job fair was held in line with the "Kalinga sa Maynila" program in Sta. Mesa.

The job fair was held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Guadalcanal Street in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Manila-PESO Head Fernan Bermejo said the employment opportunities were opened for high school graduates, college level, technical, and vocational graduates.

The job fair, she added, will be held in coordination with the Department of Labor and Employment- National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) Manila Field Office.

The city government advised the applicants to wear casual attire. 

Meanwhile, the Kalinga forum in Sta. Mesa also covered other free basic services including medical consultation, basic medicines, deworming, rabies vaccination, civil registry, tricycle and parking registration, ID registration for persons with disability, solo parent and senior citizen, clearing and flushing operations, water and electricity payments, building permit inquiries, notary services, and police clearance.

The forum started at 7 a.m. and served residents from Barangays 594, 595, 596 and 597.

Among the departments, bureaus and offices that participated in the event were Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB), Department of Public Services (DPS), Department of Engineering and Public Works, Manila Police District (MPD), Manila Barangay Bureau, Manila Civil Registry Office (CRO), City Legal Office, Manila, Manila Health Department (MHD), Manila Department of Social Welfare, Manila Senior Citizen Association, Manila Veterinary Inspection Board and City Treasurer’s Office- Manila.
