Fisherman drowns on Batangas river

NASUGBU, Batangas – Police said a 52-year-old fisherman drowned on the Wawa River in Barangay Wawa here.

The victim was identified as Raymundo Derain Ata, single, resident of Barangay Wawa.

Police said Ata left his friends during a drinking spree on Monday afternoon to pick up his things in his boat.

The victim did not return and his body was later on found on the river on Tuesday morning.

Ata’s family decided against an autopsy to determine his exact cause of death as they are convinced that he drowned.

Initial physical examination on Ata’s body showed no indications of foul play.
