The House Committee on Appropriations will ensure continued funding for President Marcos' so-called legacy project once it takes up the 2025 National Expenditure Program (NEP) worth P6.325 trillion.

"Sisiguraduhin natin na tuluy-tuloy ang legacy projects ni Pangulong Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. -- ang legacy specialty hospitals, legacy on food security at legacy housing for the poor," committee chairman, Ako-Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co said on a Wednesday afternoon, July 3.

(We will ensure the continuation of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.'s legacy projects--the legacy specialty hospitals, legacy on food security and legacy housing for the poor.)

"We will also ensure that vital sectors like education, healthcare, infrastructure, and social services receive adequate funding to improve the quality of life of all Filipinos," he added.

The appropriations committee is the lead panel in the annual deliberations on the NEP.

The NEP becomes the House members' basis for the filing of the General Appropriations Bill (GAB), or the proposed national budget. For next year, the budget measure will be worth P6.325 trillion.

"The House of Representatives is fully prepared to receive the approved 2025 [NEP ]. The NEP will undergo rigorous scrutiny to ensure that every peso allocated is judiciously spent and aligned with our national priorities," Co said.

"We will meticulously examine the NEP to guarantee that it reflects the aspirations and needs of our people...Our dedication to this process underscores our commitment to a transparent, accountable, and people-centric approach to governance," he further said.

Co said the primary goal of the committee is "to craft a budget that truly serves the people".

"We are committed to ensure that the 2025 budget addresses the essential needs of our citizens, promotes sustainable development, and drives our nation towards progress and prosperity," he said.
