2 killed, 3 hurt as 3 vehicles collide in Ilocos Sur

SANTA CRUZ, Ilocos Sur â€“ Two drivers were killed and three individuals were injured in a collision among three vehicles in Barangay Gabur Sur here on Tuesday morning, July 2.

Police identified the victims as Michael Saydawan, 53, of Baguio City, driver of a closed van, and Rodulfo Hafalla of Barangay Paratong, this town, and driver of a motorcycle.

The closed van allegedly encroached on the lane of a Fuso truck that resulted in a collision. The driver of the Fuso truck lost control of the vehicle and hit the motorcycle before crashing into a concrete fence.

The Fuso truck driver, Mariel Rosal, 38, and his passengers were injured.

Saydawan and Hafalla were taken to a hospital where they were declared dead.

Rosal is under police custody while follow-up investigation is ongoing.
