TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Education (DepEd)-Regional Office 8 said the opening of classes in Eastern Visayas on Monday, July 29, was smooth.

Jazmin Calzita, DepEd-8 information officer, reported 828,720 enrollees for school year 2024-2025 as of posting time.
"As of this time, there are no major issues relative to school opening," Calzita said.
Calzita said that one of the issues they faced was parents who did not follow the enrollment schedule from July 3 to 26. She said a significant number of learners have just enrolled on Monday.
She said that some of the issues they noted such as the lack of classrooms and cleanliness of some schools are perennial challenges that can be addressed by the school and the community.
