Vice President Sara Duterte still has the most extensive security detail compared to her predecessors, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said amid the issue on the pullout of 75 of her police escorts.
PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil said a total of 31 policemen are still assigned with the Office of the Vice President, citing the data from the Police Security and Protection Group (PSPG).
“Vice President Sara Duterte has more than enough security personnel compared to her predecessors, ensuring a robust and comprehensive security framework,” said Marbil.
“The adjustments in security personnel reflect our commitment to adapting to current security needs while also adhering to directives that enhance overall police efficiency,” he added.
Last week, Marbil confirmed the order to recall 75 policemen assigned to Duterte, citing the need to deploy more policemen on the ground, especially in Metro Manila.
The 75 policemen that were pulled out from Duterte’s security force were reassigned to the National Capital Region Police Office.
Marbil also committed to augment the security of the Vice President for any of her engagement in any part of the country.
‘The PNP continues to provide top-tier security services to Vice President Sara Duterte. The PNP remains committed to providing security for the Vice President during her travels across the country,” said Marbil.
