Returning anew to his alma mater, head coach Willie Miller, who succeeded former Knights mentor Allen Ricardo, is ready to take over the Squires who aim to get valuable lessons against top tier teams in the country.
“Lahat naman capable eh, buong-buo ‘yong team mo and they know their roles okay na ‘to. Pero di naman kami nage-expect ng kung ano-ano kasi ito naman is new team, new coaching staff and new system,” said Miller. “Ang kailangan lang namin ‘yong experience nga tyaka magkakumpiyansa lahat ng players.”
“Magiging masaya ‘to. ‘Di ko naman pine-pressure ‘tong mga players ko. Ang important they can gain experience tyaka sa practice nakikita ko naman paonti-onti paayos na nang paayos,” added Miller, who was an NCAA Rookie of the Year winner for Letran way back in 1995.
NGBL commissioner and PBA great Ronnie Magsanoc said they want to follow what his former mentor, San Beda legend Ato Badolato, did in helping the youth and turning them into great players.
“I belong to the generation wherein Coach Ato Badolato was my mentor and looking at what coach Atom has done for a lot of young players in the last four decades. I'd like to follow and emulate what he has done for a lot of eventual future professional players,” said Magsanoc.
“And just to replicate what some of the members of the board have said earlier, important is, sir, the quality of teams. That's number one,” he added.
