DepEd-Bicol expects 1.46% increase in enrollment for SY 2024-2025
LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – The Department of Education (DepEd)-Bicol is expecting a 1.46 percent increase in enrollment in the region this school year 2024-2025.

Mayflor Jumamil, public information officer of DepEd-Bicol, said that they expect 1,758,628 enrollees, 1.46 percent higher compared to the 1,733,251 last school year.
"All sectors na po ito. From public schools, private schools at ‘yung mga higher institutions na nag-ooffer ng kindergarden, elementary, at secondary (These are all sectors. From public schools, private schools, and higher institutions offering kindergarten, elementary, and secondary)," Jumamil said.
Jumamil said that 500,000 students have yet to enroll during the opening of classes on Monday, July 29, due to data not being entered yet into the Learner’s Information System.
She urged parents to enlist their children as all schools are still accepting enrollees from kindergarten to high school.
Jumamil said the opening of classes is Bicol was generally peaceful and no major concerns were recorded.
Classrooms damaged by tropical cyclones have been repaired but she said that schools lacking classrooms in Tabaco City, Tiwi, and Catanduanes due to these weather disturbances will utilize the temporary learning system.
Jumamil said that no classes were suspended in the region during the opening of classes.
She said that DepEd-Bicol Regional Director Gilbert Sadsad is very grateful to the Philippine National Police-Bicol led by Police Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon for making the opening of classes peaceful and orderly.
Jumamil said Dizon assured them of police visibility in schools to ensure peace and order. She noted that police are duty from the start to end of classes.
Police Lt. Col. Malu Calubaquib, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-5, said Dizon personally inspected public schools in Albay during the opening of classes to ensure safety of learners.
