Police Assistance Desks (PADs) have been established and lawmen are patrolling school vicinities to ensure zero crime incidents, PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said.
Ometer also said that police were directed to assist in traffic management operations in major thoroughfares near schools.
Barangay tanods and civilian volunteers were tapped as force multipliers.
“Our friendly forces, especially from the Philippine Army, will also provide support to our security measures to ensure the safety of our teachers and students during the opening classes today,” Ometer said.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Alan M. Nazarro instructed police chiefs in the region to closely coordinate with other concerned agencies, particularly the Department of Transportation and Communication, Department of Education, and local government units to effectively carry out public safety services during classes.
“Our main concern is the safety of the public, especially to our students and teachers, including parents,” Nazarro said. “We will secure and protect our learning institutions from criminals and would-be criminals.”
