Kim Chiu invited to attend Seoul International Drama Awards ceremony


The organizing committee of the Seoul International Drama Awards (SDA) has officially invited Filipino actress Kim Chiu to attend the ceremony and receive her award in September. 

The SDA ceremony will be held on Sept. 25 at the KBS Hall in Seoul. 

Chiu won as the Outstanding Asian Star in the Philippines during the global voting for the SDA 2024 on the Idol Champ app from June 15 to July 14.

Fans voted for Outstanding Asian Star (South Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand) and Outstanding Korean Drama OST.

For Outstanding Asian Star in the Philippines, Chiu of “Deceit” won with 65.03 percent of the votes. Placing second was her co-star Paulo Avelino, 14.35 percent while grabbing third place was “Road Killers” star Nadine Lustre with 10.86 percent. 

Chiu posted the invitation letter on Instagram and announced that she will attend the awards ceremony. 

In the invitation letter, the SDA organizing committee told Chiu, "Thank you for your submission to Seoul International Drama Awards 2024. This invitation is sent to the winners of SDA 2024.” 

"On behalf of all the judges and the organizing committee, we would like to congratulate you all on the award,” it added. 

According to Chiu, “I got the news today! I am lost for words… beyond thankful, grateful, and extremely happy!!! I can’t believe this is happening,” she wrote. 

“Thank you to #SeoulDramaAwards2024 thank you, ABS-CBN @dreamscapeph, and most especially to my lovely supporters for all the unconditional love, support, time, effort, and much more. I am very lucky to have you all behind and beside me. Thank you for making this possible!” she said.

In South Korea, the winners of the Korea Popularity Award are Byeon Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon of “Lovely Runner.”
