Rain showers may prevail across parts of Luzon due to the southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Monday, July 29.
PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered monsoon rains and thunderstorms may affect Ilocos Region, Benguet, Abra, Zambales, and Bataan.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms may also prevail over Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region and Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Weather Specialist Obet Badrina added that PAGASA continuously monitors a low pressure area (LPA) located 220 kilometers northeast of Aparri, Cagayan.
He said the LPA remains less likely to develop into a tropical depression due to unfavorable environmental conditions.
Badrina also said that the effect of habagat may weaken in the coming days.
