Filipina skateboard sensation Margielyn Didal missed the chance to return for the Paris Olympics but threw support to her fellow athletes competing in the ongoing competition as she set sights on Los Angeles 2028.

Filipina skateboard sensation Margielyn Didal missed the chance to return for the Paris Olympics but threw support to her fellow athletes competing in the ongoing competition as she set sights on Los Angeles 2028.

The 25-year-old made her Olympic debut in Tokyo in 2021 where she landed in seventh place in the women’s skateboarding street event.

Just when Didal thought the next three years would build her up for a redemption in Paris, the Filipina sustained a left ankle injury while competing in the Red Bull Skate in Brazil.

The Cebuana was out of action for nine months shortly after her surgery which affected her path to the Paris Games.

Didal couldn’t even fail to defend her Asian Games title last year that saw her stumble and finish dead last in the event.

“Didn't make it to the Paris 2024 Olympics this year. Back in October 2022 I was in Brazil for a contest and I fractured my left fibula, due to that injury it affected my performance so I missed a few spots to qualify,” Didal posted on Instagram on Sunday night, July 28.

Despite the tragic incident that robbed her of another chance to live out her Olympic dream, Didal is keeping a positive outlook as she tries her luck again.

“I know it happens for a reason.”

As of writing, there are still 21 out of 22 Filipino bets in the running for a potential gold medal finish in the ongoing Olympiad as Sam Catantan fell to world No. 2 and top seeded Arianna Errigo of Italy, 15-12, in their table of 32 bout in the women’s foil individual earlier in the day.
