The 35-year-old mentor posted the development on X on Saturday, July 28, a week after leading the Philippines to the 43rd William Jones Cup title.

“Strong Group Athletics [is] being invited to join the Taiwan P League as a guest team. What do you think? Should we?” Tiu said.

Strong Group was founded only last year and made its debut in the 33rd Dubai International Basketball Championship last January where it brought home a promising silver medal finish.

Six months later, Tiu, who has overseen two prior appearances for the Philippines in Jones Cup, was tasked to lead Strong Group to the competition and successfully steered the squad to the country's seventh overall title in the tournament.

Strong Group saw two different sets of lineup in the past six months which were composed of a mix of Fil-foreign talents, veteran pro players and collegiate stars.

NBA player Dwight Howard, who is currently suiting up for the Taiwan Mustangs in The Asian Tournament, was tapped by Strong Group for its Dubai stint as an import along with Andray Blatche.

With Tiu also calling the shots for the College of St. Benilde in the NCAA, some collegiate standouts have also seen action for Strong Group in Allen Liwag, Tony Ynot and incoming rookie Jonathan Manalili.

Other Filipino cagers who have represented Strong Group include Gilas mainstays Jordan Heading and Kiefer Ravena, UAAP Season 86 MVP Kevin Quiambao, and debuting PBA rookies RJ Abarrientos, Dave Ildefonso and Caelan Tiongson.

With back-to-back successful stints overseas, Strong Group’s future as a basketball team is looking bright as well as for its potential lineup.
