QC LGU announces starting dates for SY 2024-2025


The Quezon City local government on Saturday, July 27, announced that the opening of classes for school year 2024-2025 will begin on Monday, July 29.

However, due to Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Habagat that caused wide-spread flooding in the National Capital Region (NCR) and nearby provinces, some schools will have a delayed start beginning on August 1 and August 5. 

Here is the list of elementary schools that will start their classes on August 1: 

-Sto. Cristo Elementary School

-Balumbato Elementary School 

-Cong. Reynaldo Calalay Elementary School

-Sinagtala Elementary School

-Odelco Elementary School

-San Francisco Elementary School 

-Dalupan Elementary School

-Diosdado P. Macapagal Elementary School

-Rosa L. Susano Elementary School

Josefa Jara Martinez High School and Sta. Lucia High School will also start their classed on August 1. 

Meanwhile, the following schools will start their classes on August 5:

-Betty Go Belmonte Elementary School

- Masambong Elementary School 

- Masambong High School

- Sergio Osmena Sr. High School

“Magsasagawa ng Saturday classes ang mga paaralang ito para mapunuan ang nawalang araw (These schools will conduct Saturday classes to make up for the lost days),” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

Belmonte also ensured the public that all necessary preparations are in place for the successful start to the academic year despite Metro Manila being placed under the State of Calamity due to the adverse effects of the weather conditions.

“Handang-handa na po ang ating mga paaralan para tanggapin ang mga estudyanteng magbabalik eskuwela sa Lunes (Our schools are fully prepared to welcome students back on Monday),” the mayor said.

The city government together with Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara and Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) acting chairman Romando Artes led  the Brigada Eskwela activities in various schools in the city and they distributed around 400,000 school supplies and bags to the students.
