Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said that the resolution allows the release the calamity funds for humanitarian support and disaster relief.

The declaration of this [state of calamity] is a step to ensure that we can allocate funds appropriately for emergency operations and provide aid to families affected by the flooding),” she said

We will ensure that assistance, such as relief packs and other necessities, reaches the affected families, especially those in our evacuation centers),” she added.

Sandoval also highlighted the city's commitment to preventing future flooding.

We will continue to coordinate with agencies to make sure that flooding like this will not happen again during storms or high tide),” she said.

City Administrator Dr. Alexander Rosetaid the resolution also allows the city government to allocate the 30 percent of the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund worth P40,605,602 for the relief and recovery programs.
