3 dead in expressway accident


CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – Three persons were killed in an accident on the northbound lane of the Tarlac-Pangasinan-Expressway in Barangay Palakipak, Rosales, Pangasinan on Thursday, July 25.

Police identified one of the victims as Alex Quichio of Barangay Poblacion, Dolores, Abra, driver of a black Nissan Terra sports utility vehicle.

Investigation said Quicho’s vehicle was travelling on the outer lane of the expressway when a vehicle in front suddenly overtook a 16-wheel truck.

Quicho was blinded and tried to evade colliding with the rear portion of the truck by steering his vehicle on the road shoulder.

He lost control of his vehicle and hit the right side of the truck.

Quicho and his two passengers were taken to the hospital where they were declared dead due to serious injuries.

The truck driver Alexander A. Fabrigas, 41, and his son, Alexander Jr., 16, residents of Caloocan City, were unhurt.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation.
