Flip phones are looking like the more popular choice for a lot of people.
This is based on my mere observation when going around–in malls, hospitals, in offices, in restaurants. I just see more people with the Flip version of a phone than a Fold. Sometimes I think I want one, sometimes I don’t.
But after seeing Xiaomi’s Mix Flip, I think I may be leaning toward wanting one. Among the Mix Flip variants is made with nylon. It looks like a very pretty wallet.
The Mix Flip is packing a lot of heat as well, a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and with lenses partnered with Leica, 3000 nits of brightness, and 120Hz refresh rate. You’ve got a flagship device with this and a stylish one at that.
Nylon is a durable plastic material, so you can breathe easy that the Mix Flip should be able to handle a few bumps and scrapes. But we cannot ascertain if this will hold up in a year or a couple months.
Xiaomi hasn’t released any of its foldables in the country. Right now they’re focused on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, which is also a great phone with very good cameras. Maybe in a year or two we’ll get a chance to try out Xiaomi’s folding devices, especially this nylon version of the Mix Flip.
