To achieve this, the provincial government will host a freediving certification course in partnership with Tugkad Freediving from July 27 to July 28.

The initiative aims to build a community of certified freediving enthusiasts who can act as tourism guides showcasing the province's stunning underwater treasures.

By attracting tourists and generating jobs, the initiative aims to boost the local economy and promote sustainable development.

“This growth in tourism would benefit the hospitality, food services, and transportation sectors greatly and also encourage the preservation of marine ecosystems,” the provincial information office said in a statement.

With a total of 13,700 kilometers of coastal area, Northern Samar boasts some of the most stunning beaches in the Philippines.

Its diverse marine life makes it an ideal location for freediving. The municipalities of Mapanas, San Vicente, and Lavezares are popular spots.
