Police Col. Atonieto Cañete on Friday, July 26, took over as the new CCPO chief, replacing Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, who vacated his post after one year and nine months.

Police Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, chief of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas (PRO-7), presided over the change-of-command ceremony at the PRO-7 headquarters in Camp Sotero Cabahug here.

Aberin noted that Dalogdog performed well in his almost two years at CCPO.

With Dalogdog at the helm, the CCPO was able to ensure the peaceful conduct of Sinulog, the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet, and the recent Palarong Pambansa, said Aberin.

“As the city director, he had brought the Cebu City Police Office to greater heights. He has so many accomplishments especially in big events that the city hosted. He also had notable accomplishments in the campaign against illegal drugs. Thank you Ren for the hard work, and of course good luck to your awaiting designation as the regional investigator of PRO-7,” Aberin said.

Aberin expressed confidence that Cañete can replicate his predecessor’s performance.

As a lawyer, Cañete possesses good investigative skills, Aberin said.

Aberin urged Cañete to continue the programs that Dalogdog had initiated.

Ensuring constant police visibility is one of the first orders that Aberin issued for the new CCPO chief.

Cañete assured that the CCPO is always open to the public.

Dalogdog is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1998 while Cañete belongs to the PNPA Class of 1997.
