Police lieutenant about to get married killed in motorcycle mishap
BACOLOD CITY – A police intelligence operative who was about to get married was killed in a motorcycle accident in Barangay Poblacion, Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental at past midnight on Sunday, July 21.
The victim was identified as Police Lt. John Dale Mayo, 26, of Oriental Mindoro.

He was assigned to Negros Oriental since 2022 after graduating from the Philippine National Police Academy in Silang, Cavite and was a member of the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company.
Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental police, said the victim was on his way back to camp when he reportedly lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into the concrete wall of a house.
Polinar said the victim might have dozed off due to exhaustion as he came from a surveillance operation.
The victim was wearing a helmet but due to the impact, he succumbed to head injuries, said Polinar, a classmate of Mayo at the PNPA.
Polinar said that a three-day wake was held at the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (Norppo) headquarters in Sibulan, Negros Oriental before his remains were transported back to his hometown.
Polinar said that Norppo and the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 (Central Visayas) have extended assistance to Mayo’s family.
