As roads going to Barangay Sta. Ines in Tanay, Rizal remain impassable, President Marcos has ordered the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to lift government assistance via helicopters to about 3,000 families who were still stranded there due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon.

In a situation briefing in San Mateo, Rizal, on Friday afternoon, July 26, the President asked the OCD to get the job done urgently as the people there have not been getting assistance since Monday, July 24.

The provincial government of Rizal initially requested air drops but upon learning that there was a landing area for a helicopter there, he told the OCD to coordinate with the Department of National Defense (DND) to send aircraft there instead.

"Hindi na kailangan mag-airdrop, pwede pala mag-landing. Sige, pag-aralan natin yun (We don't need to air-drop anymore as we could land. Let's look into that)," Marcos said.

"Sana (I hope) we can get something done today. Coordinate with DND. Sa OCD, pag-aralan na nga ninyo. Sana may maipadala ngayong araw (Look into it. I hope we can send something today)," he added, referring to the goods that were already prepositioned.

"Mag-assign lang kayo ng dalawa sigurong helicopter, pwede na 'yan. Kahit pabalik-balik (Just assign to choppers, that's enough already. Just make multiple trips)," he continued.

The Province of Rizal experienced widespread flooding and damage to livelihood and infrastructure which forced thousands of residents to flee and take shelter in designated evacuation centers.

The effects of the weather disturbances prompted local government units (LGUs) to declare a State of Calamity, particularly in the municipalities of Cainta, San Mateo, Taytay, Morong, Rodriguez, and Angono.

According to Rizal Governor Nina Ynares, three of the 14 towns in the province were badly hit by the super typhoon. They have recorded eight injured, one missing, and two dead in the province this past week.

President Marcos has ordered the concerned agencies to cater to the needs of all LGUs that suffered the most impact from Super Typhoon Carina.

Heeding the President’s directive, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has implemented a price freeze on various goods and commodities in areas under the State of Calamity, namely in the National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon (Region III) and Calabarzon (Region IV-A).

Likewise, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) issued an order to expedite the allotment of proper funding for the release of relief packages intended for the affected LGUs.
