Liberal Party (LP) President Albay 1st district Rep. Edcel Lagman didn't hold back from his criticism of Vice President Sara Duterte, who was nowhere to be found in the Philippines as Typhoon "Carina" barreled though the country.

Lagman specifically assigned the lady official for hee supposed "lack of empathy" amid the latest calamity faced by Filipinos.

"Vice President Sara Duterte left hundreds of thousands of Filipinos in agony and despair due to the onslaught of super typhoon Carina as she flew with her family to Germany last Wednesday for an apparent vacation," he said.

"Her lack of empathy and concern is appalling as Metro Manila and many parts of the country are reeling in a state of emergency," noted the Bicolano.

In this regard, Lagman said the Office of the Vice President (OVP) can't hold a candle to the typhoon response efforts of Duterte’s direct predecessor, former vice president Leni Robredo.

"This is in stark contrast with the Angat Buhay Foundation of former Vice President Leni Robredo which has been spontaneously and continuously aiding the victims even as its immediate help and assistance has inspired volunteerism among citizens," Lagman said.

"The sincerity of public leaders must be gauged by their selflessness and support in times of nationwide calamities and emergencies," stressed the independent minority congressman.
