Not only humans but also their pet dogs were displaced by the flood caused by heavy rains of Typhoon Carina in Rizal Province.
The office of Antipolo City Mayor Casimiro "Junjun" Ynares III said personnel of the City Veterinary Office safely rescued at least 24 pet dogs from the flooded villages along Marcos Highway in the city.
The team of City Veterinary personnel brought the flood affected pets to a temporary shelter and evacuation center at Kingsville Subdivision, along with their owners.
Pet food and diapers were given to the dogs at the evacuation center.
Several villages located along flood-prone Marcos Highway and Sumulong Highway were submerged in waist-deep to shoulder-deep flood as a result of the heavy rain brought about by southwest monsoon induced by Super Typhoon Carina on July 24.
As of 10 p.m. on July 24, Wednesday, the office of Mayor Ynares said among the roads that remain impassable to all types of vehicles were Marcos Highway to Sta. Lucia (Filinvest/Vermont Park Subdivision areas) and Sumulong Highway (Masinag to Marikina/V.V. Soliven).
