Van driver killed in collision with trailer truck

ATIMONAN, Quezon – A 40-year-old refrigerated van driver was killed in a collision with a trailer truck on the Maharlika Highway Diversion Road in  Barangay Santa Catalina, this town, on Tuesday afternoon, July 23.

Police identified the victim as Jefferson Ibarrola of Cabuyao City, Laguna.

Investigation said a trailer truck loaded with steel bars driven by Jollebert Santos, 28, of San Fernando City, Pampanga, lost its brakes on a descending portion of the highway and collided with Ibarrolla’s vehicle.

The victim was pinned by the impact and died on the spot.

Santos and his helper,  Romar Garrido, 42, of  Calumpit, Bulacan, were injured.

Santos faces a case of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to properties.
