UAE's Al-Nahyan, other foreign officials sympathize with 'Carina' victims

United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and other foreign government officials are sympathizing with the Filipino people who are hardly hit by Super Typhoon Carina.

Al Nahyan was the first government leader who issued sympathy to the Philippines after sending a message of condolence to President Marcos on the flood victims caused by Carina.

He also wished for the speedy recovery of those injured.

"His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, sent similar messages to the President of the Philippines," said UAE's news agency, WAM.

Meanwhile, US Ambassador to Manila MaryKay Carlson said her thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by flooding caused by the super typhoon.

She said the US embassy team is now working closely with Philippine government agencies and is already providing assistance.

Australian Ambassador HK Yu also offered her sympathies to communities affected by Carina.

"The embassy continues to monitor the situation and is keeping contact with Philippine government and partners. Australia is prepared to respond if requested," she gave assurance.
