Taguig LGU suspends classes; flooding reported in several areas 


The Taguig City government suspended classes on July 24 due to the red rainfall warning by the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). 

“Due to the Red Rainfall Warning issued by PAGASA at 3 a.m., the City of Taguig is suspending classes in all levels (public and private) today, July 24, 2024, Wednesday,” the city government posted the announcement at 3:54 a.m. 

Several areas in Taguig are flooded due to the continuous rains. 

Netizen Rolly Tagalog posted a photo and video of flooding in Village Green at 6 a.m. on July 24. . 

“Kelangan po ng RESCUE dito sa Green Village K9 Lower Bicutan. Inabot na po mga bahay po (RESCUE is needed here in Green Village K9 Lower Bicutan. [Flood] has reached houses),” he posted.

At 8 a.m. on July 24, PAGASA issued a red warning level for Metro Manila, Rizal, Bataan, Pampanga and Bulacan.

“Serious flooding in flood-prone areas,” PAGASA warned. According to a report by the  Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), flooding in Village Green has reached six to seven feet. 

Barangay Lower Bicutan reported that it inspected affected areas like Village Green and K9 Samabana Area and urged residents who wanted to evacuate. A boat was deployed to help residents who were unable to go home due to the flood.  

Orange warning level was issued for Cavite and Zambales, and yellow warning level was issued for Laguna, Batangas, Tarlac and Quezon (General Nakar, Infanta, Real, Mauban, Sampaloc).

The MMDA said based on reports from Taguig’s Barangay Affairs Office (BAO), City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and Incident Management Team, the following areas in Taguig are experiencing flooding as of 6 a.m. on July 24: 

District 1

- LOWER BICUTAN

Village Green -  6-7 feet

K9 Block 12 - 5 feet

-Purok 4 Tilapiaan (creek water level near to overflow)

-Pulo 2  - 1.22 meters

- IBAYO TIPAS

- Capistrano  - 0.61 meter

- NEW LOWER BICUTAN

-Pangilinan Villa, Villa St. along MRT Ave.  - 0.61 meter

- STA. ANA
