OVP prepares relief packs for 6,700 families affected by 'Carina'
The Office of the Vice President (OVP) has prepositioned several relief packs for those who will be affected by Typhoon Carina.
According to OVP, there are already relief items for 6,700 families. These were prepared by its Disaster Operations Center (DOC).
The assistance will be distributed by government responders in areas affected by the latest weather disturbance particularly in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Region 4-A.
Each relief box contained food packs as well as hygiene kits, blankets, sleeping mats, mosquito nets, slippers, expandable water jugs, and other needed necessities.
During calamities, the OVP's DOC is leading all disaster response activities of the agency and coordinating closely with local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Councils (DRRMC).
The OVP-DOC is currently coordinating with different local government units (LGUs) in the areas affected by Typhoon Carina for the conduct of its relief operations.
Currently, it is awaiting the go signalTyphoo from the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) to formally begin its relief efforts in various localities in Metro Manila and Calabarzon since the rescue phase is still ongoing in different flooded areas.
