Malabon LGU rescues over 174 families trapped in their homes by floods


The Malabon City government on Wednesday, July 24, rescued a total of 174 families amid heavy flooding due to heavy rains brought about by Typhoon Carina and the high tide.

"Hindi natin pababayaan ang ating mga mahal na kababayang Malabueño, lalo na ngayon apektado ng baha ang ating lungsod. Nandito kami para tumulong sa kabila ng problema natin sa pagbabaha ngayon na dulot ng high tide, pag-uulan, at ng kasulukuyang isinasaayos na navigational gate. Asahan niyo pong kami ay nakabantay ngayong panahon ng kalamidad at patuloy na magpapaabot ng tulong sa inyo. As of 11:30 a.m., 360 individuals are currently staying in 15 evacuation centers in the city.

 

According to city administrator Alex Rosete, flood response equipment and vehicles including 12 rescue boats, 2 Hilux vehicles, 2 tow trucks, a troop carrier, and a truck were deployed for assistance and to ferry the stranded residents to safe areas.

 

The local government also made sure that its flood sensors, early warning sirens, and pumping stations were working. Its Central Command and Communication Center also remains operational.

 

As of 10:43 a.m., the water level in Tullahan River has already reached 13.5 meters (critical level).
