It said the transition has been part of HYBE's ongoing leadership initiative since the start of 2024, positioning Lee as the central figure for the forthcoming ‘HYBE 2.0’ strategy rollout.
“Jason is an entertainment industry veteran with vast experience in strategic planning and operations across both domestic and overseas businesses. Under his new leadership, we are looking forward to advancing as a global entertainment lifestyle platform company,” said HYBE.
Lee will replace Park who stepped down from the position.
Since joining HYBE (formerly Big Hit Entertainment) in 2018, Lee has been instrumental in shaping business strategy and investments, holding key positions including Chief Innovation and Growth Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, Chief Operating Officer of HYBE America, and president of HYBE America.
HYBE said with his extensive experience across the entertainment industry, Lee notably structured HYBE’s three-pillar business model—label, solution, and platform—while spearheading the company’s IPO and number of mergers and acquisitions.
Lee, an alumnus of Yonsei University in Seoul, previously worked with Monitor Group, Hyundai Motors, and Google prior to joining HYBE.
Park, who served the CEO for the past three years, decided to step down, facilitating a strategic shift aimed at fostering HYBE’s global expansion and its new growth strategy.
During his tenure since July 2021, Park has led HYBE through unprecedented growth recording more than doubled consolidated revenue and operating profit.
He received recognition as the first CEO in Korean entertainment history to lead the company to surpass 2 trillion won (about $1.44 billion) in revenue, laying the foundation for HYBE’s multi-label system and global expansion.
The company said Park will continue to contribute to the company’s growth strategy, by leveraging his expertise in the intersection of entertainment and technology.
HYBE uses a multi-label system. Agencies under it are Bighit Music, Belift Lab, Source Music, Pledis Entertainment, Koz Entertainment, Ador, Hybe Labels Japan and Naeco.
On the other hand, HYBE America manages its affiliate labels including Big Machine Label Group and Quality Control.
HYBE also established an integrated structure with its solution business that creates concert, video content, game, original story and retail, as well as a platform business through Weverse, a global fandom platform. Composed of its global offices based in Korea, Japan, the US, and Mexico, the company works towards bringing innovative change throughout the global music industry.
K-pop artists under HYBE include BTS, Seventeen, ENHYPEN, and Tomorrow X Together.
