Flood inundates Bacoor roads, 478 families evacuated

CAVITE – Floods inundated roads in Bacoor City brought about by the torrential rains of the southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Carina on Wednesday, July 24.

Bacoor Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office told the Manila Bulletin that as of 8:30 a.m., floodwaters measuring six to eight inches had been recorded on major thoroughfares, including Panapaan-Aguinaldo Highway, Malumot-Aguinaldo Highway, and around SM Bacoor Rotonda, rendering them impassable to light vehicles.

A total of 478 families or 1,803 individuals, meanwhile, are seeking temporary shelter in 21 evacuation centers within the city due to floods.

The local government unit (LGU) continues to monitor water levels in dams, rivers, and tributaries.

As of 7:38 a.m. on July 24, strong currents and overflow were recorded at Molino Dam in Barangay Molino 3 and Prinza Dam in Barangay San Nicolas 1. Strong currents were also recorded at Zapote Bridge in Barangay Zapote 2.

 

 

Cavite Gov. Jonvic Remulla announced the cancellation of classes at all levels, public and private, on July 24.

Bacoor LGU, meanwhile, suspended government work except for departments involved in essential public services and disaster and emergency management.
