Family of 4 killed in Batangas landslide

AGONCILLO, Batangas – A family of four was killed in a landslide in Sitio Manalao, Barangay Subic Ilaya, this town, on Wednesday, July 24.

The municipal Disaster Risk reduction and Management Council said the victims were members of the Rimas family – a 28-year-old six-month pregnant woman and three minors aged 9, 13, and 15.

Their bodies have been recovered, the MDRRMO said.

The MDRRMO, police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Municipal Health Office, and Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office have extended support to the family of the victims. 

The local government unit is evacuating affected families in the area.

The landslide was attributed to continuous rain caused by the southwest monsoon or "habagat" and typhoon "Carina."
