Fallen tree kills ‘goto’ vendor

NASUGBU, Batangas – A vendor was killed after a big acacia tree toppled due to strong wind and heavy rain from typhoon “Carina” while selling "goto" (rice porridge with tripe) in Barangay Poblacion 3, this town, on Tuesday night, July 23.

Police identified the victim as Virgilio, 46, a resident of Barangay Talangan here.

Investigation said Virgilio was selling goto in his tricycle when the acacia tree beside suddenly toppled and hit him.

He sustained injuries and taken to a hospital by rescuers where he was declared dead due to head trauma by attending doctor Audrey Brio de Mesa.
