DPWH: 14 major roads in Metro Manila now passable

A total of 14 major national roads in Metro Manila that were rendered impassable due to flooding triggered by typhoon 'Carina' have been cleared of debris and are now open to motorists, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) said on Thursday, July 25.

In a travel advisory, the DPWH said the reopened road sections are located in Manila, Malabon City, and Valuenzuela City.

The DPWH said the cleared roads include the Tayuman corner of Jose Abad Santos Avenue; Bonifacio Drive (NB) P. Burgos St.; Gov. W. Pascual Ave.; C. Arellano St., Paez St., to Sacristia St.; Sanciango St., Francisco Compound to P. Aquino St.; Don Basilio Bautista Blvd., Dampalit Bridge to JCT Womens Club; P. Aquino St., Sanciango St.; P. Aquino St., Gen. Luna St. Intersection; C-4 Road; JCT Women's Club, Flores St. to Naval St.; M.H. Del Pilar St., corner E. Rodriguez St.; M.H. Del Pilar St., Yanga St. to San Vicente Village; M.H. Del Pilar St., Buenaventura St. to Arkong Bato; and Mac Arthur Highway.

Meanwhile, the Lagusnilad Underpass in Manila remained impassable as of Thursday noon due to landslides triggered by the typhoon.

The DPWH maintenance crew continues to actively monitor roads with a quick response team equipped to clear drainage and waterways and to conduct operations to remove obstructions on affected roads.
