“Pampanga does not need POGOs (Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators) to prosper."
This was the confident declaration of House Senior Deputy Speaker Pampanga 3rd district Rep. Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr. Tuesday, July 23, or a day after President Marcos announced the ban on POGOs in his State of the Nation Address.
“I, together with my constituents in Pampanga, fully support the President’s directive. It is unfortunate that the presence of a suspected POGO hub in Porac town, which the authorities recently raided, has tarnished the image of our province,” he said in a statement.
Gonzales said another huge establishment in his hometown of Mexico is suspected of being a POGO front.
“Pampanga does not need POGOs to prosper. Because of its central location in Central Luzon, its extensive road network, for which we thank PBBM, and its proximity to Metro Manila, our province has rapidly developed economically," he said.

"We can sustain its growth without POGOs,” undescored Gonzales.
He added that the offshore gambling issue “will now be a problem of enforcement, on which national agencies and local government units, including the barangay, should collaborate".
