Over 25 families evacuated as rising sea water engulfs homes in Tondo
More than 25 families were evacuated and moved to the Delpan Evacuation Center on Tuesday, July 23, after heavy rains with strong winds and rising water destroyed and engulfed their houses in Isla Puting Bato, Tondo, on Monday, July 22.

Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan and Vice Mayor Yul Servo-Nieto, along with Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) Director Arnel Angeles, visited the families to check on their conditions.
The Manila DRRMO reported that it evacuated the families who totally lost their homes on Monday afternoon due to strong winds and rising sea levels brought by Typhoon Carina.
The affected houses were reportedly made of light materials such as plywood and bamboo which made them vulnerable to strong winds and rising sea water.
The Manila Department of Social Welfare (MDSW) stated that the destruction started from one house, and because of the close proximity of the structures, a domino effect ensued.

In some videos uploaded by residents, destroyed houses can be seen floating in the water while residents attempted to salvage their belongings. Other residents, however, failed to save anything.
The affected families are currently staying in partitioned tents provided by the Manila DRRMO.
The MDSW immediately supplied them with food packs, hygiene kits, and other relief items.
