MinDA lauds PBBM SONA

DAVAO CITY – The Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) backs President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and looks forward to working closely with his administration to achieve their shared vision for a brighter future for Filipinos.

“His vision for the Philippines is inspiring and aligns with our goals for Mindanao's sustainable development and progress. The emphasis on infrastructure development, economic recovery, and social services resonates deeply with our mission,” MinDA Chairman Secretary Leo Tereso A. Magno said following the President's State-of-the-Nation Address (SONA) on Monday, July 22.

Magno, who described the SONA as insightful and comprehensive, added that Marcos' commitment to enhancing connectivity, improving public services, and fostering economic growth is crucial for the inclusive development of Mindanao and its people.

“We are particularly encouraged by his focus on agricultural development and support for local industries. These initiatives are essential for helping farmers and local entrepreneurs, making sure progress benefits even the remote communities,” he said.

Magno said that major Mindanao projects like the MalMar Irrigation System, the Panguil Bay Bridge, and the Guicam Bridge Project will significantly improve connectivity and economic activity in Mindanao. 

“These initiatives are not just infrastructure improvements; they are lifelines that will link communities, open markets, and enhance the quality of life for countless Mindanaoans,” he added.

Magno said Marcos' assertion that the Philippines cannot yield and waver on the sovereignty and integrity of the country is a powerful reminder of their commitment to protecting the nation's interests and upholding its dignity. 

He also said that the decision to ban Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) operations demonstrates the government’s commitment to safeguarding the nation's moral and social fabric, essential for maintaining public order and security.

Magno said MinDA stands ready to support and collaborate with the national government to implement these initiatives and is assured of transforming Mindanao into a hub of prosperity and innovation, contributing significantly to the nation's overall growth and stability.
