La Mesa Dam edges closer to spilling—Manila Water

East Zone concessionaire Manila Water Company said that La Mesa Dam is approaching its spilling level due to sustained heavy rains.

In an advisory on Wednesday, July 24, Manila Water stated that La Mesa Dam is expected to overflow once it reaches the level of 80.15 meters.

According to the water concessionaire, La Mesa Dam is currently at 78.44 meters, just 1.71 meters below its spilling level.

"Due to the continuous rise in the water level of La Mesa Dam, it is expected to overflow once it reaches the level of 80.15 meters," Manila Water said.

"For your safety, prepare your emergency go bags and follow the evacuation orders of your barangay in case evacuation is necessary," it added.

The normal operating level of La Mesa Dam ranges from 78 meters to 79 meters.

Due to continuous rainfall caused by Typhoon Carina and the southwest monsoon, La Mesa Dam has risen by 1.42 meters from its previous day's level of 77.02 meters.
