Operations of Geely cars in the Philippines will now be handled by Geely Automotive International Corporation (GAIC). The announcement signifies the official handover of Geely Philippine operations from Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) to GAIC.

SGAP has served as Geely's partner in the Philippines since 2019, expanding the brand's presence and market share in the country to its current state. Geely first entered the market with just two models, the Coolray and Azkarra SUVs. They were soon joined by the Okavango and Emgrand. SGAP has also managed to expand Geely’s presence to 38 dealerships in the country.

Part of this transition, however, involves the closing of the Geely North EDSA dealership starting July 31, 2024.

According to the announcement, all Geely dealers will continue to invite customers to experience the brand and provide car purchases and after-sales support. Customers need not worry as operations will still continue and their vehicles will be cared for through aftersales support and service.

“We are proud of our achievements with Geely. Now that we are handing the business over to GAIC, we are confident in their ability to elevate the brand. We express our most profound gratitude to our valued customers, esteemed dealer partners, and industrious employees and anticipate Geely’s continued success in the Philippines,” said Sojitz G Auto Philippines.

“We extend our utmost appreciation for the successful experience with Sojitz G Auto Philippines, which has greatly contributed to Geely’s growth in the country. We are thrilled to assume Geely’s operations with continuous focus and passions. By leveraging our global strengths, we will introduce products meeting Filipino consumers’ needs. We commit to a seamless transition and continuing SGAP’s legacy of excellence,” said GAIC.

GAIC looks for to embarking “…on this new chapter, we look forward to continuing to serve our customers with the highest standard of products and services and contributing the long-term development of the local auto industry.”
