Former Marikina City 2nd district Rep. Miro Quimbo has confirmed that his wife, incumbent district Rep. Stella Quimbo will run for mayor of the city in the 2025 mid-term elections.

He confirmed this while he was with "Teacher Stella" Monday afternoon, July 22 at the traditional red carpet arrivals in Batasang Pambansa Complex for President Marcos' State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Rep. Quimbo is on her third and final term as a member of the House of Representatives.

It was earlier reported that she was offered the post of Department of Education (DepEd) secretary upon Vice President Sara Duterte's resignation from the post. She reportedly declined.

Incumbent Marikina City Mayor Marcelino Teodoro is on his third and final three-year term. Reports said he will run for 1st district congressman--a post he previously held--next year.

Teacher Stella's decision paves the way for a potential mayoralty contest between her and Mayor Teodoro's wife, Marikina City 1st district Rep. Marjorie Ann Teodoro.

Meanwhile, ex-congressman Quimbo revealed that he is gunning for the 2nd district seat next year.

“God willing,” Quimbo told reporters when asked to confirm reports that he will seek a House comeback.
