Caloocan City gov't suspends classes due to bad weather

Mayor Dale “Along” Malapitan on Tuesday, July 23, declared the suspension of classes in all levels, both public and private, in Caloocan City due to continuous rains brought by typhoon Carina.

“Batay sa rekomendasyon ng Caloocan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRRMD), kanselado po ang klase sa lahat ng antas sa mga pribado at pampublikong paaaralan sa Lungsod ng Caloocan ngayong araw, July 23, 2024, bunsod ng nararanasang pag-ulan sa buong Metro Manila (Based on the recommendation of the Caloocan City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRRMD), classes are canceled in all levels in private and public schools in the City of Caloocan today, July 23, 2024, due to the rain experienced throughout Metro Manila),” Mayor Malapitan said in a social media post.

Residents were encouraged to stay home and be on the alert.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) issued Flood Bulletin No. 2 on Tuesday, July 23.

PAGASA said that over the next 12 hours, moderate rains with occasional heavy rainfall are expected to persist in the following river basins and their tributaries, as well as in areas susceptible to flooding: Main Laguna de Bay; other tributaries draining towards the Laguna de Bay; Upper Marikina River (Rodriguez, Antipolo, San Mateo, Quezon City, Marikina); Lower Marikina River (Pasig, Mandaluyong); Pasig River (Pasig, Makati, Mandaluyong, Manila); Tullahan River (Quezon City, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela); Mango River (Rodriguez); Nangka River (Marikina, San Mateo, Antipolo); and San Juan River (Quezon City, San Juan, Manila).
