353 families evacuated in Cavite due to ‘Carina’

CAVITE – A total of 353 families or 1,069 individuals have been evacuated throughout the province due to heavy rains and floods brought by southwest monsoon enhanced by Typhoon Carina on Tuesday, July 23.

Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Administrator Rustom Ram Colorado told the Manila Bulletin that affected families are staying in 17 evacuation centers in seven local government units (LGUs), namely:

  • Cavite City
  • Imus City
  • Kawit
  • Maragondon
  • Noveleta
  • Rosario
  • Ternate

Some of the affected families have been seeking temporary shelter in evacuation centers since July 22.

The cities and towns affected by floods are located within the coast or near rivers and tributaries.

PDRRMO has yet to record a casualty but is currently verifying an alleged drowning incident in Tanza.

LGUs, meanwhile, continue to monitor water levels in rivers and dams as well as roads prone to flooding.
