The Marikina City Rescue 161 raised the first alarm at around 5:30 a.m. to 6:21 a.m. on Wednesday, as it quickly reached from 15 meters to 15.8 meters.

By 6:45 a.m., the second alarm was immediately raised as it had reached 16 meters above sea level.

With the raising of the second alarm, residents in low-lying areas, especially those near the river, will be asked to voluntarily evacuate their areas to designated evacuation sites, according to the city's early warning system.

At exactly 10 a.m., the water level in the Marikina River reached 18 meters, prompting the city government to raise the 3rd alarm alert and order forced evacuations in all affected areas.

The city government is continuously monitoring the water level in the river.

All gates at the Manggahan Floodway were opened, the local government said.

As of 5 a.a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) raised a red rainfall warning in Metro Manila, Cavite, and Bataan and heavy rainfall, flooding, and landslides can be expected.
