Various militant groups staged protest rallies along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City, on Monday, July 22, to demand a wage increase for workers during the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

Over 1,000 rallyists from the Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP), Partido Lakas ng Masa (PLM), SANLAKAS, Kababaihan sa Oriang, and Philippine Movement for Climate Justice(PMCJI) gathered at Commonwealth Avenue at around 6 a.m.
Despite heavy rain, the groups marched and reached the front of Diliman Doctors Hospital at around 11:50 a.m.

Bukluran ng Manggagawang Pilipino (BMP) president Atty. Luke Espiritu joined the protest.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with President Marcos and his administration’s efforts in addressing the problems of the country and the people.
“If I were to give a grade, not just me but the entire Filipino workforce, if zero were a possible grade, Bongbong Marcos would get a zero, a failing grade for his two years," he said.
“Hindi na natin matitiis na mag-two two years pa siya. Kung hindi niya babaguhin ang polisiya, hindi na matitiis na four years pang ganito. Sa ilalim ng kanyang Bagong Pilipinas kung saan bigong bigo ang masa (We can no longer endure another two years of him. If he doesn't change his policies, we can't bear another four years of this. Under his "Bagong Pilipinas" (New Philippines), the masses are deeply disappointed),” Espiritu added.
The protest concluded after an hour, with the participants marching back to their starting point.

Meanwhile, at 3 p.m., over 6,000 protesters from the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), Manibela and PISTON transport groups, Gabriela, Migrante, Kabataan Partylist, and Anakbayan PUP also arrived in front of Diliman Doctors Hospital.
The groups called on the administration to stop the increase in prices of basic commodities.
They demanded wage hikes for workers, increase for the educational budget, and support for local businesses in exporting products.
They also urged the local government to support jeepney drivers and save them from falling into debt due to the phaseout of jeepneys.

Protesters used effigies to symbolize their view of the administration of Marcos Jr.
The effigies depicted Marcos and Duterte engaging in a brawl.
