Farmer gunned down while connecting to Wi-FI


BACOLOD CITY – A 33-year-old farmer accessing Wi-Fi was gunned down in Sitio Talagbuan, Barangay Marcelo, Calatrava, Negros Occidental on Sunday night, July 21.

Police identified the victim as Rene Fernando of Barangay Marcelo.

Police Major Wilfredo Benoman Jr., Calatrava police chief, said the victim was connecting to Wi-Fi in a store when an unidentified person approached and shot him.

The victim sustained a bullet wound in the chest that exited through his back.

Benoman said the victim managed to run a few meters away from the scene but he slumped  to the ground. 

The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Benoman said they are checking the background of the victim to help them determine the motive in the incident.
