“I thank everyone for their invaluable contributions resulting in the downward trend of crime incidents. The police cannot do it alone. We achieved this because of your support and contributions,” said PRO-6 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky.
Wanky said the number of eight focus crimes went down by 23.74 percent – murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping of motor vehicle, and carnapping of motorcycle. Only 1,089 incidents were recorded from January to June, 339 fewer than the 1,428 in the same period last year.
Wanky said he is confident that the downward trend in crimes will go on. “It is our goal that this descending trend will continue.”
Police Lt. Col. Arnel Solis, PRO-6 chief information officer, said non-index crimes such as illegal drugs or illegal gambling decreased by 8.12 percent.
Solis said there were 4,434 cases from January to June, 392 fewer than the same period last year with 4,826.
