P2.8-M shabu seized in Negros Oriental


BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a suspected drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Cangmating, Sibulan, Negros Oriental on Friday, July 19.

The suspect, 35-year-old Ren-Ren, a resident of nearby Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental, yielded 422.6 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.8 million.

Police Lt. Stephen Polinar, spokesperson of the Negros Oriental police, said the suspect was tagged as a high-value individual.

Ren-Ren also yielded a weighing scale, P320, and the P12,000 marked money.

Some sachets of suspected shabu were packed in Chinese tea packaging. Polinar said investigation is ongoing to determine if these are indeed shabu.

He said that they are probing their source and checking the background of the suspect.

The suspect said that his difficult situation led him to engage in the illegal drug trade.
