The Presidential Communications Office (PCO) has said that Marcos has been on top of crafting his speech, which he said on Friday, July 19 was already finished but would undergo fine-tuning until Sunday.

"Ire-report ko kung talaga bang yung mga sinimulan natin ay tuloy-tuloy at maganda pa rin ang progress at kung gaano pa katagal bago matapos yung malalaking project na ‘yan (I will report if the projects we have started are progressing and when will the big projects will be completed)," the President said last week.

"We will also report on the state of the nation in the sense that, what are the lives of our people, how are they doing? The economy, how is it doing? Criminality, how are we doing on that? How are we doing in the other problems, social problems, such as drugs, such as different threats that have been coming to us," he added.

According to the President, he was trying to keep his SONA speech short and leave the other details for his Cabinet secretaries to discuss. His previous address lasted 70 minutes while his first SONA in 2022 ran for 74 minutes.

With this in mind, Marcos said they will distribute a briefer to public and private stakeholders and educational institutions. This briefer will discuss his administration's achievements in detail, especially those that may not have made the final version of his speech.

"Sa totoo lang, ang pinaka-problema namin ay paano namin ipagkakasya lahat doon sa isang SONA na mga isang oras na salita (Honestly, our biggest problem is how to compact all of those in one hour)," he said.

"Kaya't ang ginawa namin ay mayroon kaming ginawang brief (What we did was we made a brief), a report to the nation, which goes into the detail. The detail that I cannot go into during the SONA dahil masyadong mahaba (because it would be too lengthy)," he added.

As with the previous year, the SONA on Monday will be directed by Radio Television Malacañang (RTVM).

In his address in 2023, the President lauded the people for stepping up and uniting for the country, saying their efforts had contributed to the coming of the "Bagong Pilipinas."

"Every Filipino have unanimously risen to the challenge that we have made to them to be part of the nation’s future. Handa silang maghandog ng tulong, dahil mahal nila ang kanilang kapwa-Pilipino, at mahal na mahal nila ang Pilipinas (They are ready to help because they love their fellowmen and they love the Philippines)," he said.

His 70-minute speech tackled the country's economic status, food security, power supply, health, education, foreign policy, investments, the war on drugs, digitalization, and the welfare of overseas Filipino workers, among others.
